Before We Began
Michelle is an Instagram influencer who had about 70,000 followers when she came to me – and now has many more. Her audience is divorced moms — including famous ones like one of the Real Housewives. She was recommended to me by agent Joelle DelBourgo because she had an idea for a book. This idea was sketched out on one page. She knew nothing about the book-writing process and needed a fully fleshed-out proposal for Joelle to consider her work.
Michelle was extremely motivated because she had a friend who had just landed a book deal and knew that she could do this, too. (I love envy as a motivator! It often tells us what our heart desires.) She had always wanted to write a book and felt that NOW was her time.
She was on fire!
What’s The Big Idea?
Michelle is all about empowering women after divorce. Her podcast is called Moms Moving On, and everything she does on her Instagram feed goes towards this messaging, too. She has a unique ability to inspire women to put bitterness aside and focus on what they can control. She is unfailingly positive. Her followers love her for this can-do, moving-on attitude.

The Outcome
Michelle developed a killer book proposal, including two sample chapters. She sent it off to Joelle, who loved it, and signed her. Within a few weeks, the proposal was out on submission to publishers, and soon Michelle had an offer from an imprint at Simon & Schuster. It sounds a little magical — and it felt that way.
The publisher asked for the manuscript to be completed immediately — within two months, right around the winter holidays. Michelle worked with me and one of my Author Accelerator book coaches to complete the book and hit her deadline. I have rarely seen a writer work so hard! Michelle had relentless drive and inspired everyone who worked with her to bring her vision to life.
In Her Own Words
“I've long been a firm believer in asking for help when you need it, which is why I reached out to Jennie and her team for help putting together a book proposal that would inevitably lead me to receiving an offer from my dream publishing house. What I didn't realize when asking for Jennie's help, was that I was not just going to be receiving the helpful guidance I needed, I would also be getting my own personal cheering squad, the honesty and support that one so desperately needs when taking on a project of this magnitude, and her full undivided time and attention.
Jennie, Lianne, and her team don't just do their jobs, they wake up every morning with a passion to make their jobs count for something. I am grateful every day that my path led me to Jennie and her team, and know full well that I wouldn't be where I am today professionally without them.”
